Bits of my Weekend x2

April 26, 2010

So I apparently needed a break last week… but I’m back, and I have some ideas about this week. Stay tuned for a yummy slow cooker recipe (according to Roswell, the best thing I’ve cooked yet.) So here’s a combo of the last two weekends. Enjoy!

Cherry Blossom Season

April 14, 2010

Last Sunday, April 11th, marked the closing of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the “annual two-week event that celebrates springtime in Washington, DC as well as the 1912 gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan.” I made it downtown only one day to take a look at the blossoms and, as usual, they were beautiful. If only there weren’t so many tourists.

Bits of my Weekend

April 12, 2010

Ahh… I missed Friday again. I never wanted to this blog to be something I felt I needed to do. It’s supposed to be fun. So I’m not going to get mad at myself for not posting or missing day. So there.
So how was your weekend? I’ve been getting ready for a big event in my sorority – our annual International Reunion Day – and spent a while this weekend getting things together for the event on the 17th. I haven’t put my whole heart into the event and have been letting myself down a little bit. But as with this blog, I’m supposed to be doing this because I enjoy it, and the minute it feels like it’s overwhelming, I need to take a step back. It’s a little hard to do that with an event coming up and then the fact that next month, I’ll be installed as President. But today, at our last committee meeting, I was reminded of the fun that I could have and it definitely helped my mood about the whole thing. Anyway, much longer post than I anticpated. Not too many photos from this weekend, but I hope you enjoy!

Bits of my Weekend

April 5, 2010

Happy Monday! I arrived a work this morning to find that all “social networking and personal sites” had been blocked at work. So unfortunately I had to wait until this evening to post!

Happy Peeps-ter!

March 31, 2010

Happy Easter everyone. Here’s a few of my flickr favorites featuring one of the most popular Easter candies. Are Peeps even candy? Maybe I should say Easter snack. Oh well…

Bits of my Weekend

March 29, 2010

The sun was bright this weekend; however, the temperature didn’t get the memo and stayed in the 40s and 50s. I made it out downtown to the Smithsonian Kite Festival and got a sneak peek at the Cherry Blossoms I’ll see next weekend on the early morning photowalk (5AM! on a Saturday! oh man.)

It was a hard weekend for me, dealing with some aspects of life. But I made it through… this weekend, at least. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Bits of my Weekend: Movie Edition

March 22, 2010

This weekend, I managed to not only go to tea on Saturday and a movie on Sunday and enjoy time outside, I also managed to watch four movies, with one still waiting at home to be watched.

Princess and the Frog - Disney’s “new” princess. I enjoyed – more because I love Disney than I loved the story.
Twilight and New Moon – I may be the only girl my age who hadn’t seen these two but I have to say I can see the attraction. I throughly enjoyed both of these movies and even watched New Moon twice before I had to return it to the Redbox.
Alice in Wonderland – I think this one was hyped up a little bit to much for me and fell short of my expectations. It was an okay movie – I didn’t see why it needed to be in 3D and spent a lot of the movie thinking about why it was in 3D.

We still have The Hurt Locker waiting at home to be watched. (Not to mention The Curious Case of Benjamin Button arriving in the mailbox from Netflix today.) I’ve been watching a ridiculous amount of movies lately.
